Design Engineer

How would you contribute?
This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Design Engineer you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. The Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing proprietary specialized tooling, products, and equipment for the company. This role establishes specifications utilizing engineering calculations, layouts, and their application to design work.The Design Engineer also collaborates closely with internal teams and external vendors to determine engineering requirements and design needs for the projects.
Essential Duties:
- Design plastic injection mold components for rigid plastics manufacturing using CAD software.
- Update, maintain and manage design files based on feedback from internal production and the mold shop teams.
- Work with the design team to help optimize the process of designing new products and tooling.
- Host Design Reviews and evaluate mold and product designs for errors and enhancement, revising designs as needed.
- Assist internal teams with troubleshooting for design, mechanical, and machining errors.
- Lead and support project teams on new product and tooling development, guiding efforts from initial design throughout the production process.
- Follow all safety processes and procedures.
- Report food safety issues to management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
Education and Certifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Previous experience using design software such as CAD.
- Previous experience in manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience with coding is preferred.
- Experience with FEA programs is preferred.
- GD&T experience is preferred.
